Got my rejection from MIT today. Though I am secretly little sad, I am happy the burden of rejecting snowy MIT was taken away from me. Going to stick to bay area anyways for family reasons, so the rejection doesn't impact plans much.

Congrats to those who got in!

Actually I kinda feel relieved after my rejection.

Now I am secretly starting to support my friend according to whom PhD from MIT is just a waste of time since you pretty much

get the same education as you get from other top-20 uni but might end up spending 2-3 years more to get it.

However, I sort of still feel the pain of not being able to say "Hey, I got into MIT".

Who knows may be that's all there is to MIT!

And also grapes are probably very sour. :)

So I have a chat Saturday, but I called it an "other" and not an "interview," because really it's a professor who has a few specific questions for me.

I think many people are classifying those sorts of chats as interviews, which I guess is technically still correct, but it's not a formal, university-driven interview like other programs, so there's really not much you can infer from getting or not getting one.

What sort of questions do they ask?
