mlannie Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm in social but we're tight-knit and I can ask friends if I don't know the answer.
TXInstrument11 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Do you know if admissions decisions have already been made? I am interested in working with Dr. Anderson. Pencilvannia 1
mlannie Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 I'm not sure Craig made the list of professors who are allowed a recruiting slot, but several other professors overlap in interests and might take a look at your application (two new professors, Marcus Crede and Allison Phillips, are definitely recruiting and there are only 5 slots allotted to our area. I think Max Guyll and/or Stephanie Madon might be picking someone up since they're organizing the visiting weekend. Gary Wells and Susan Cross will both be down to one student soon, and scuttlebutt says Kristi, Z, Craig, and Doug are all interested). The visiting weekend is the second weekend in February, so students should have been contacted if they're on the short list. That being said, it's not uncommon for someone to fail to recruit their potential student during visiting weekend and extend an offer to someone on the waitlist afterward. I'd keep hope until the beginning of March.
TXInstrument11 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Hm. That's pretty bad news. Thanks for giving me some insight on the app process at ISU though.

My friend last year got an e-mail Mid-January, and so when I didn't, I kind of figured I wasn't getting an interview. Oh well, no use dwelling on it . Thanks for the information!

Does this mean that potential students who visit ISU in February will be given official offers for the 5 spots or is the visit part of the interview process and admission decisions are based on how the visits go?
mlannie Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 It depends on the professors, the area, and the year. My year, all of us social were pre-accepted, but it seems more normal that the acceptance comes after the interview depending on how it goes. Counseling always interviews before accepting.
