HBKss Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I recently had an interview with a faculty member. The interview went well and she offered me unofficial acceptance. She also told me that as she has to send a name to the department by mid February, hence she wants me to decide by that time if I plan to join her or not. The problem is that I haven't heard back from 9 of my other universities and several of them are above this university in my list. It is highly unlikely that I will hear back from all of them by mid February. Now, I can obviously not ask the faculty member to extend the time as it is not in her control either. My application is a little different than most of the people. It is likely that I get into most of the remaining places that I have applied to. Similarly there is also an equal chance that I don't get into either of the remaining places. As the acceptance offer is unofficial hence I don't think I can contact other universities regarding speeding up or at least just telling me the status of my application while quoting this offer. What should I do? This is driving me crazy.. Please help...
Enhydra Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) I would tell her that you are interested in the program but that obviously you can't commit to anything without an official offer. Edited February 2, 2015 by Enhydra
