Hi guys!

I have applied to the Lynch School of Education PhD in Educational measurement. I saw someone in C&I PhD Program got phone interview invitation already.

I am wondering anyone else already got any update since the application submission? Maybe we can share info about application status?

Anybody else get into the Master's program in Higher Ed and is going to Interview Day on the 19th-20th? We should be hearing back this week about our interview schedules.

I applied to phd in erme and emailed them. They have not requested any skype interview and the decision would be made by early March. Hope this info.useful

I was told this morning that PhD decisions will be made and conveyed in the next two weeks. Eeeeek!

Hi, thank you for sharing your status. May I ask which program I applied to?

Got my rejection email today. Sigh.

Do you mind sharing which program you applied to?  Hope you hear good news from other schools!

Any ERME applicant heard from the school? It has been 3 monthes since we submitted our application. So painful.

Nothing yet... also being painful here.

But according to the timeline the department gave, for now I consider it not bad news, at least not just yet (sigh...)

I saw someone got accepted to the ERME program today, congratulations!

Care to share some details, please? I still did not hear a thing......Words that Lynch sends the rejections after everything done?

i think that was me! i got a phone call this morning asking if i was interested in an interview at some point during the following two weeks, and due to timing/schedules, we ended up having the meeting 10 minutes later. the phone call just went really, really well - we had a ton in common in research interest wise, and he happened to know my graduate advisor really well. he let me in on the spot, but again i think that was pretty unusual - i don't think that if you have an interview and don't get in right away that it doesn't mean they don't want you. i think it goes back to committee first usually. anyway, he said that they had just screened for the first round of applicants and i made it on the second round for interviews, so i think that the process is just slow for them. it's currently their spring break so i imagine a lot will be happening this week!

ps: i was just rejected from harvard and university of washington two days ago

Hi, thank you for sharing your interview details about the ERME program in Lynch School. And yet I still did not hear a thing from BC

I also got rejected from U of Washington this week, bummer~~~  :(

The U Washington program is very different from the ERME program. I had an interview with them last week and knew it wasn't the right fit, so the rejection isn't surprising. They train people to become more theoretical and focus on the actual methods. BC focuses more on the application of methods to policy

Could you please share what they asked during the interview? Is an interview required for admission? Are you planning to accept?

it was the typical interview questions that you should be prepared to answer from any school - no surprises. things like what do you want to study, what are your methods interests, what are your substantive interests, what are you passionate about, what are your professional experiences, have you presented/published, etc.

i don't know if an interview is required but it seems weird to me that a phd program wouldn't want to interview anyone they were serious about (but clearly many schools don't!). they might be going down the list slowly rather than sending all of the interview emails at once, because i saw in the results search that someone had an email requesting an interview on feb 27 and then i was contacted two days later on mar 1 about an interview. and yes, i think i will be accepting - i just wish boston was warmer :(
