DramaDuck Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I'm curious, for some of you, do your application statuses change? A few of mine say that my app is "being reviewed" while some only say that my app has been "submitted" or "completed" or "ready for review." I submitted my apps the day before or on the day of the deadline, and I'm not sure if because I submitted them "late" that they won't even be considered.
c m Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I think it varies about the website. I have heard people saying theirs have changed, but none of mine have. And one says completed and a POI emailed me saying they were reading my application materials and another one said incomplete for two weeks after I submitted the application and then just changed to complete. Depends on the software they use. And a day before is a day before and the day of is good, too. I think a significant amount of people submit around then. You should be fine.
InHacSpeVivo Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) The only acceptance I have right now doesn't do online status updates. However, I can say with the exception of apps due January 15 ALL my apps were submitted right before/at the deadline. I don't think they can realistically expect submissions super early for applicants currently in school, especially MA students teaching. Edited February 1, 2015 by In hac spe vivo.
Dr. Old Bill Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 For what it's worth, I had all of my apps submitted very early (a few of them on the first day applications opened), and the statuses of many of them are still the same as you mention -- some say "submitted," some say "under departmental review" etc.
snyegurachka Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 All of mine just say "submitted." Cannot attest yet whether that is good or bad.
DramaDuck Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks for sharing. So many things about this process freaks me out because of what is at stake. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one submitting apps the day before or the day of.
