Cheshire_Cat Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 So, the school I am most likely going to end up attending is within walking distance from where I work. In fact, one of my favorite lunch places is right beside the business school. I visited once for a Ph.D interest meeting, but didn't see very much. I am wondering if I should check out campus some more, and if so, what I should visit? My POI said that I could come by any time if I wanted a tour. It would be really easy for me to visit during lunch or after work, so I am thinking about it.
käntekst Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I would definitely go for a tour. Things that interest me on my campus visits are the library, especially if there is a department specific one, any spaces/offices/areas allocated for grad student use, and if there are any comfortable places to go/relax/work on things between classes or during downtime. I also care about nearby and campus museums, but that's field specific. The bookstore can be interesting too, just for the fun of it; though I've never actually used campus bookstores for textbooks, just merchandise. And possibly where department classes are taught - I've seen instances where classes either attended by grad students or taught by grad TAs are far away from the department itself and grad offices. Just something worth knowing!
