Yes I was surprised to hear that Ohio University had given the offers they sent out a deadline of this Monday to decide,  if they are holding out for another school that could work out in my favor. However, are you actually locked in once you accept?

I don't know. I think if another offer comes along then you aren't 100% obligated. At least until you sign the paperwork.  That's what wait lists are for - in case someone drops out to attend another program or something else comes up. But that may be something that needs to be considered on an individual basis depending on the school and the situation.

Hi All,

Waiting to hear from URTA (University of Florida), UCSD, and USD.  My first year applying.  The waiting is torture, but good to know you're all out there in the same boat!  :-)

Thanks Alishbond!  I interviewed with U. of Florida at the URTA auditions, but haven't heard from them yet.  Yes, they are a great school.  :-)

Still nothing. Starting to look at monologues for next year.

The nice thing is I always need new monologues to audition for local stuff, and at this point I'm developing quite a collection.

We're not at the "abandon hope" phase yet, but I can't keep waiting for an email. I just have to assume that I'm not on the list and move on. If I'm wrong and something pops up, hey, great.

I'm trying not to be too hopeful for fear of being let down.  Is it true that you never get accepted the first year you audition?

Yeah, I know a lot of people who were accepted their first year, but I also know of a lot of people who it took 2, 3, even 4 tries before getting in. It may have to do with the school/s you're applying for, where you are in your career, or if you're just out of undergrad, etc. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it.

Welcome!

I auditioned for NYU a couple years ago and I think it was around this time that they sent out invitations for their callback weekend - and also rejections. Mine was a rejection, in the form of an email. If you are waiting to hear from them, I think you should be hearing either way. So maybe no news is good news? When is their final callback weekend this year?

Ah gotcha. That's great! Ditto when IMUnaware said. Sending acceptance vibes your way! Hopefully soon!

Well friends, I got my rejection letter from USD in the mail yesterday so that's it for me, since it's the only school I applied to. Ah well...maybe next year. We'll see if I still have it in me.

Best of luck to all of you. I hope everything works out for you exactly as it should, and that either way I'm sure you will all find a path that's right for you in this wacky business we all got ourselves into. ;)

Bummer. Sorry to hear that Button. I haven't gotten one yet, but I think I will soon. I felt very flat and a bit tight in my USD audition. Best of luck with everything, grad school or no.

Sorry to hear Button.  Waiting to hear from them, too.

Well, maybe in both your cases no news is good news. The other 2 times I've applied to USD I didn't hear until late March because I was a finalist so it's possible they sent out initial rejections early - which is what I got the other day - and they still have a pool of people that are still in the mix. Ahhh! Who knows? Fingers crossed for you guys though!!

Thanks Button! Fingers crossed! Did they tell you in your previous letters that you were a finalist?

I goty rejection from USD (well it must have come Saturday). I knew my audition wasn't great. They probably sent it the same day they sent yours.

Still. Nothing. Sorry about your news, youre right THIS is totally wacky and WE are totally wacky apparently.

Sorry to hear, IMUnaware. I forgot to check the postmark date before I tossed the letter in the old recycling bin, but they could've been sent at the same time. I'm out West, so if you're on the East coast I guess it would take a day or two longer to get to you. Bummer. :(

CAMFA, yes they did notify me that I was a finalist in the past, but as far as I know, they didn't contact my references so I don't know how serious they were about me. Again, who knows?
