Coneect with POI on LinkedIn

Would you connect with your POI on LinkedIn or is that too much stalking?

I ask myself the same questions. I didn't connect with any professor prior to applying, and I'm starting to doubt that decision. I'm from France, where "networking" is not at all something we're used to do, so I didn't email anyone or anything. I tend to think that it could annoy professors, unless you have legit questions or need advice!

certainly no expert on this, but personally, I would only send a connect request after being admitted, since some profs seem to really avoid contact with prospective students.

It's a different field, so may present a different and more acceptable dynamic, but I have "followed" my POIs on ResearchGate.  After doing so, three of five of them have followed me back.

Thanks everyone!  I too haven't contacted any professors, because a few of the programs specifically say not to until after admission.  I was just curious if I should do so with the other programs.  I think I'll wait it out once I hear about admission.  Thanks everyone!
