Sending message to POI after interview weekend?

Is it "advisable" to send a message to your POI after the interview weekend to show your interest, assuming it went well? Could not doing this imply a lack of interest that might turn off some POIs?

I read somewhere (not on gradcafe) that only about 10% of prospective students send a thank-you of any kind following an interview, so I think either way is fine.

 

I've interviewed at 3 places and I only sent thank you emails following one of those interviews.
