mdnicx42 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 What are the best schools for IPE? I'm specifically interested in global governance issues - the role of states and multilateral orgs. in the global economy. I am particularly interested in labor markets, although I'd also be interested in departments strong in trade-related issues. Any thoughts?
jackassjim Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Go to Harvard. Between Frieden, Hiscox and Simmons, they've got quite a team. There are surprisingly few strong clusters of IPE folks at the top schools, but all of them have one or two profs. Apply everywhere, and join the department where you feel you'll best fit in.
expatbayern Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 To my mind, the most obvious answers other than Harvard are Princeton, Stanford, and UCSD (I know David Lake's new research agenda has to do with global governance issues...), but don't sleep on Wisconsin--I'd put Martin, Pevehouse, and Copelovitch up there against any IPE group out there.
jackassjim Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I think Pevehouse moved: http://harrisschool.uchicago.edu/Facult ... ehouse.asp
Penelope Higgins Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Pevehouse left, and moved back to Wisconsin - he will certainly be there as of this fall.
