Zip Codes, Morals, Cash Registers, and Literature (Oh My)

I tend to embrace the free market (most often out of necessity). If the giant box of Ramen noodles that will make up half of my dinners for the next month is ten cents cheaper at Walmart, I'm shopping there. Local businesses can fend for themselves.

If I get a tenure-track job at Yale, I'll be a bit pickier, perhaps. We'll see.

Having done payroll for several hundred small businesses when I worked for a payroll co, I have no remorse for these small business owners. They routinely employ illegal immigrants, pay below minimum wage, cheat on overtime and pay employees like they're 1099s.

I don't shop at Walmart, either, though. Not that I care about small businesses or staying local, but they censor everything. Not a fan of that.

Does this mean you are suggesting, between those illegal immigrants and the corporate censorship, we really shouldn't bother with this activity of reading? I
