thepinkdragon76 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Hi. I'm new to the forums but have been lurking checking out things. My situation is a bit unique in that I applied to one school for one program due to my location and status. My husband is active duty and we are stationed in Kansas. I am a veteran and have a good care team at my local VA and our life is established here. So, I applied to KU for their MSW program starting in the fall. Of course, my husband got selected last week by the Army to attend grad school in CA for his job, so our plan C has been enacted and we are buying a house here and doing the geographical separation for 18 months. So now to the question at hand. Notifications have NOT been sent out yet. The School of Social Welfare has the "Info session" on their calendar of events for this Thursday. It is a dinner, meet and greet and information session on some of the various programs offered at both campuses. In order to attend you have to RSVP, which I have done. I know that the director of the program for the campus I chose will be there, along with other faculty and staff. I also know that regular MSW notifications will start going out in March. Do you see where I'm going with this? I feel this "info session" is a tactic to seek out serious candidates. I've heard stories of people attending things like these at other school and got their decision soon after. So, any advice? I really need this and don't want to screw up!! Lol
thepinkdragon76 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 No advice? I know I will bump into people who can make or break this for me. Has anyone ever attended something like this?
Cheshire_Cat Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I attended one and later got an offer from that school. So did one of the others who was there. I think you are right about it being a way for them to meet and asses serious candidates.

It's worth a shot at least. I'm just really nervous!
