morningsun Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Hi everyone, As of right now this is my top choice school. I'm wondering if people can share their opinions regarding profs, student experience, etc. I'm also wondering when official offers tend to go out (I have been unofficially accepted). Thanks everyone! A
morningsun Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 In case anyone is wondering, I got my official offer on February 26th.
Sunshine70 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I have also received an offer at western for clinical psychology. What area are you in?
morningsun Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 I am in the the experimental program with a specialization in social psych. I have already accepted- are you planning to accept your offer?
Sunshine70 Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I am still waiting to hear from another school before i make my final decision to accept western. I would also like to know about experiences at western and the program.
morningsun Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 I don't know anyone who has done their graduate studies there recently. I do know someone who is currently a PhD student at my university who did her undergrad there. She has nothing but great things to say about the school and the profs. I know it's not really the same though
kb5522 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I guess all the offers are out? mine still says under review who can i call and ask if i am on a waitlist? applied for clinical psych
morningsun Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 I would email your POI or the graduate administrator.
toastytoast Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I've heard a few not so great things about some of their clinical faculty, but the program is supposed to be pretty good if you aren't in one of those labs.
kb5522 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 clinical seems to be all full... how about the Social Psych?
Djentbot Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Currently finishing up my first year in Western's counselling psych MA. It's an incredibly supportive and close knit program, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. They're conducting interviews next week, so if you applied and haven't been called you might be out of luck. If anyone has any questions about the program, feel free to ask.
morningsun Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 clinical seems to be all full... how about the Social Psych? I got my offer for MSc in Social Psych on Feb 26.
kb5522 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 What was your GRE/GPA if you dont mind me asking? I got my rejection today
Jesslynneee Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 What was your GRE/GPA if you dont mind me asking? I got my rejection today Wondering the same for the person who is currently in Counselling at UWO...I didn't get a phone call, spoke with the dept and they said all the calls had been made
morningsun Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 What was your GRE/GPA if you dont mind me asking? I got my rejection today Sorry to hear about your rejection I'm not sure if you're referring to me or the person who got into clinical but I'll answer anyway. My GRE scores were mediocre: 78 percentile verbal, 80 percentile analytic writing, and 37 percentile quantitative. I have a 4.0 GPA over my four years of undergrad. I also have a lot of research experience and several conference presentations. Hope this was helpful! A
Djentbot Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Wondering the same for the person who is currently in Counselling at UWO...I didn't get a phone call, spoke with the dept and they said all the calls had been made Didn't take the GRE, GPA was 3.92. Speaking with other people in the program, entrance GPA's seem to range from 3.5 up with a lot of weight given to experience in the field. A couple people in my cohort weren't even psych majors, but had related undergrad degrees and lots of relevant experience.

I have what I thought to be decent experience but my GPA was on the lower side (3.30) so I figured it was going to be a bit of a long shot anyways. Going to try to boost my average up and apply again next year.
Prospect90 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Has anyone received offers/rejections from UWO's Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience program?
