  1. Didn't take the GRE, GPA was 3.92. Speaking with other people in the program, entrance GPA's seem to range from 3.5 up with a lot of weight given to experience in the field. A couple people in my cohort weren't even psych majors, but had related undergrad degrees and lots of relevant experience.
  2. Currently finishing up my first year in Western's counselling psych MA. It's an incredibly supportive and close knit program, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. They're conducting interviews next week, so if you applied and haven't been called you might be out of luck. If anyone has any questions about the program, feel free to ask.
  3. I'm a current student in Western's MA Counselling program. They're accepting 15 students this year and hoping to schedule interviews soon for sometime in March. Not 100% sure on admissions averages, but somewhere between 80-85 sounds about right. Western's program heavily weights practical experience though, so someone with a lower GPA but great experience in the field still stands a chance.
  4. This thread is for Masters of Social Work discussion. Try the Engineering forum.
  5. It's generally considered bad form to decline a previously accepted offer, but this school's practice of not disclosing financial aid until you've already made your decision is TERRIBLE form. I would go ahead and accept it to find out what they offer, and if the offer is no good then I wouldn't feel bad at all turning it down considering how the school is handling the process.
  6. DEFINITELY take the NSERC. It's more prestigious, and when you're applying for future funding NSERC looks a lot better on your CV.
  7. April 15 is the typical deadline given by schools for you to accept or decline their offer. Many waitlists are open for the duration of the summer and people are offered spots as they become available, as spots could unexpectedly open up even after the April 15th cutoff. Hope that helps!
  8. I finally got my rejection letter today, even though it's dated March 22nd. The remarks section only says, "Your application is not sufficiently strong to be awarded an admission space." Very helpful input. Heh. It was definitely satisfying to tear the damn thing up and throw it in the recycling bin!
  9. Yes, "Not Offered" means that you are not on the wait list and will not be offered an award. Congratulations on the alternate list for the other school though!
  10. Just checked MyFile and I've been rejected by York's 2-year MSW. Not too shaken up since I'd already made my choice. Congrats to all those who made it in!
  11. I have absolutely nothing of value to contribute to this thread, but just wanted to say I like your avatar ReadingLisa.
  12. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I spoke with the program coordinator at McGill yesterday and she said that all first-round acceptances for the MA Counselling (both project and internship concentrations) have already been emailed. If you're wait listed though you still stand a chance! I'm going to be declining my offer later today once it activates on uApply, and I'm sure other people will too so don't give up hope.
  13. Just got my McGill Counselling Psych acceptance (professional/internship concentration). Still planning on going to UWO though if anyone's on the McGill waitlist.
  14. UofT Psychology Research Specialist Degree Last 10.0 Credits - 3.91 Subject GPA - 3.92 CGPA - 3.73 Research experience: undergrad thesis in social psychology, NSERC USRA recipient, 2 other RA positions Counselling experience: a year at CAMH in the schizophrenia crisis unit, and 2 years as an intake counsellor for a private clinical psych practice.
  15. I'm interested specifically in some of the research bring conducted at UWO, and have long term goals of possibly applying to a clinical or counselling PhD program after practicing for a few years and starting a family. I'm also more interested in joining a private practice than in practicing in community settings. More generally, UWO has a much smaller cohort size and more individual attention, and the coursework seems more interesting to me. Plus, I got SSHRC funding at Western. I might have had it at UofT too, but I'll never know because I accepted the UWO funding offer the minute the status changed on the research portal!
  16. Ah, I assumed everything was online just based on what I'd seen at other schools. And thanks
  17. Mine just changed to "invited" too! In good news for anyone who's on the waiting list, I'll be turning down the offer as soon as it shows up on the applications portal seeing as I've chosen UWO's counselling psych program.
  18. For me, I got an email saying the status had changed and then when I logged it to the research portal, it said "Offered" beside UWO. OGS awards are administered by the individual schools now, so I think you'll be contacted by the schools themselves and notification times vary. A friend who applied for OGS last year wasn't notified until mid-June.
  19. Just got my offer for my SSHRC CGS-M at UWO! It came through as an email from the Tri-Council Agency (at 4:30 in the morning, of all times), simply saying to check the research portal for a change in my status. I'm ecstatic, because I honestly thought I had no chance at a CGS-M this year because of my... "less than stellar" research proposal. Good luck to all the other applicants!
  20. Maybe the rejections are sent out after the wait list, I guess,
  21. No problem. Good luck with the applications!
