Hah! Fellow UWO acceptee here, feeling the exact same way you are. I've even been logging in and out of Student Centre for no reason other than to go, "Yup... still shows I've accepted my offer." I actually asked the profs who interviewed me what I should be doing over the summer and they said to get some volunteer counselling experience in if I can, but other than that to RELAX. I think it's important to decompress after your undergrad so you're ready to give 100% in grad school.

This depends what you mean by "use the same 3". If you're asking whether you can ask the same 3 people to be your references at all schools, then yes, definitely! If you're asking whether you can simply have 3 people write one letter each and then use them for all your applications, no. Most schools now email LOR writers and have them fill out an online LOR form specific to that school. Some might simply have them upload an LOR, but some schools have unique questionnaires that need to be filled out or questions that need to be answered. Writing LOR's is time-consuming, so be sure to only ask people you think would be willing to make that kind of effort on your behalf. Also, most profs limit students to 10 LOR's maximum, so choose your applications wisely.

Take one edible object (doesn't matter what it is... even some semi-edible objects like cardboard might be alright). Apply sriracha. Stuff into face hole. Instant happiness.

Likewise. I'm actually eager for the rejection letter so I can see the reason for refusal, even if it's probably not all that detailed.
-
I'm sure Todd hates my guts after all my emails and calls throughout the application process. Maybe that explains the rejection. Good luck! Hopefully your phone call comes sooner rather than later.
-
As weird as it is I've been religiously checking my mailbox now that I know they've sent the official letters, even though I know mine is a rejection. I guess I just want to know what they list as the reason.

To me that just sounds like something they put on there as a standard CYA sort of thing. The only way I could see them putting technically inadmissable (e.g. below the department's official GPA cut-off of B+ in the final year) applications on the waitlist would be if the applicant pool was completely abysmal. Looking at application stats for past years, the MEd usually gets about 300-350 applications for ~45 spots, so it would be hard to believe they'd ever have to consider putting sub-B+ applicants on the waitlist. If you're on there I think you at least stand a chance at getting in, so congrats!

I spent the whole time between my first application submission and my first acceptance discussing my plan B's haha. Yorkville would probably be a great option in your scenario! Especially since you could stay at your current job while completing your degree.

The experiences I've heard are similar to what happyveggie described. Although the people I've talked to also said it was difficult to find work in a private practice where the supervisor didn't charge exorbitant supervision fees for substandard supervision, and almost impossible to find work in community, hospital or other settings that would accept an online degree.
-
I worked with quite a few people who had their MA from Yorkville while I was volunteering at a counselling practice. None of them had much in the way of positive things to say about the program. I'm loathe to say much more publically, but if anyone wants more details feel free to PM me.
-
I know a few practicing counselling psychologists, and the jobs are definitely there as long as you're willing to consider all work settings and apply broadly. I'm looking at starting a family soon myself so employability has been a big factor in my decision.
-
Social work was more of a plan B for me. I'm definitely more interested in counselling and I already formally accepted UWO's offer so if I get accepted anywhere else I'll be declining other offers right away to open up a spot on the waitlist.

Thanks! And yeah, I'm not really that shaken up or anything. Western had a looooot of advantages over OISE for me, and I honestly think I'll feel more at home in this program.

Todd just emailed me back a few minutes after I got off the phone with the registrar's office. I now know 100% that I've been rejected. Honestly, it feels like a weight off my shoulders in a way. At least I know where I'll be in the fall now. I have no idea about the M.Ed, but where it's not a thesis based program I imagine they just send out mailings because there wouldn't be a need for that direct interaction with a POI.
-
I hate to be the bearer of bad news to anyone in this thread, but I was just in touch with the registrar's office and they confirmed that all offers for the MA counselling and clinical program were sent out 2 weeks ago and all accepted applicants have been contacted by their POI.
-
Yeah, I feel bad for him honestly. We're just the obsessive applicants who happen to visit gradcafe, there's probably another couple hundred people hounding him right now besides us.
-
I've been trying so hard to get ahold of Todd, but no luck so far.
-
Oh man, SO sorry to hear it Syedahum. It's such a hyper competitive program. Now that I know decisions are available and I still haven't seen my registration status update on ROSI, I assume I'm not accepted either.

Damn, guess I was wrong! That's great that it's possible for everyone. -

I think you need to be a current UofT student to check ROSI. If you're applying from another university you just have to wait for the envelope. -
During the open house I went to they said that transfers between the programs are strictly prohibited.
-
I'm shocked I didn't have an aneurysm right there on my front porch lol.
-
Hah, UofT knows exactly what a recent graduate needs: more debt.
-
I actually got a small white envelope FROM UOFT just last week. I opened it up to find a rejection letter............ for a small bursary I applied for all the way back in September. Way to go UofT.
-
Oh man, that would be the worst to see an "invited" status and then find out you've actually been rejected. I wish every school would switch to email! Although there is a part of me that really wants to come home and see a big brown envelope waiting in the mailbox sometime soon.
