PhDEducation Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I am sure it has been talked about within the forum, but I couldn't find any recent advice. At what point do you think it is appropriate to email POIs and schools about admission decisions? One program had a Dec 15 due date and nothing, seems to be a long time, thoughts?
cmosh Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I called anonymously week ago for my program because I wasn't sure if emailing was appropriate, just to get an idea of how their admissions process worked. I'm afraid of looking desperate, but I kind of am haha! Still not very confident about what's going on over there. Your due date is a month earlier than mine, so I would think that emailing would be acceptable by now, unless they state otherwise on their website. Good luck!
S.W.C Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I think emailing the department is fine but don't email POI.
Kloppo Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 This is what absolutely confuses me. Why can we not message the department/POI/Admissions office? Its not like we are supposed to be emotionless robots who dont give a heck about their application. Some of us have life decisions to make, and it may depend in whether or not we are admitted into a program-And I wouldn't want to be caught in a fix where I get rejected too late not to be able to pursue my other options. So, definately call whoever you will feel comfortable calling and keep it brief, dont get too emotional..Just a lighthearted enquiry about the status of your application and you are good to go. And please, forgive my tone if I sound desperate. .lol The wait is killiiiing.
PhDEducation Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks I agree, I got a mailing package a few weeks ago and was post marked 2nd week of Feb so I know they are looking maybe if it took them that long to get those out who knows. I agree " Some of us have life decisions to make, and it may depend in whether or not we are admitted into a program-And I wouldn't want to be caught in a fix where I get rejected too late not to be able to pursue my other options" 2 of the 3 remaining would require across the country moves and selling condo all which I am excited for and want to do.
