Lyra1960 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Anyone planning on attending Purdue's open house from out of state/ far away? Looking into staying Sunday through Tuesday. If anyone is interested in exploring the campus/nearby area with me, message me. Also, if anyone has any insights into the program, I'd love to hear them. Wishing all applicants the best!
emmmyd Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I was accepted but I don't think I will be able to make it from L.A. I was able to visit the campus for an open house but that was before they had the new clinic.
anu123 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Hi !!, I'm Definitely from out of state ! I'm actually in India and won't be able to make it for the open house . But I would love to hear about the campus if you get a chance to explore it. Also, I heard almost everyone will get funding , mostly in the Brain School of Communication. Is there a facebook group for our course specifically? I can't find one. Hope I do get a chance to meet everyone in September, I guess.
emmmyd Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I hope we all get funding that would be amazing!! I still have yet to hear from three schools but unless there is some crazy funding offer from one of them I will be attending Purdue this fall. I really wish I could attend the open house and meet everyone. I did visit in 2013 but they were still building Lyles-Porter Hall which looks beautiful from the pictures I have seen.

Pretty much in the same situation. I'm attending, so I can give you my impressions later. What did you think of the campus in general and surrounding area?
emmmyd Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I am from Indiana so I just drove in and out when I went to visit I didn't actually spend much time on campus or in Lafayette. It was the first school I visited and I didn't think I wold actually get accepted so I didn't explore as much as I should have. I got a great impression from both the students and faculty who spoke. After my acceptance I looked back over my notes from the meeting and much of what I wrote was about exciting things that would be coming with the new building. I would love to hear how the open house goes.
anu123 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Did you apply for the COMM114 TA ? If you mail the professors in the 1st link , they will send you an online application form to apply. What will both of you be doing for housing ? Apparently they will be providing us with 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom apartments on Campus , but I hear it's pretty expensive . There are loads of websites about finding apartments off campus though . If you are interested , Let me know. Thanks ... I know its really early but I had to get a head start if I have to do all my research from here. Even with my universities , this seems like the best option in terms of funding.
Lyra1960 Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Planning on applying, I wonder how competitive it is. And will def be looking into housing soon.
emmmyd Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I hope everyone has a great time at the open house today. Would love an update since I can't attend.
