IRStudent12 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hi friends, I was accepted to SAIS MA, first year in Bologna. I've noticed that many people indicated they "got into SAIS MA, but did not get into IDEV." Does this refer to the IDEV concentration, as part of their general curriculum? Is the IDEV concentration unique in that you have to apply for it? Are all concentrations at SAIS set in stone like this? I expressed interest in the Global Theory and History concentration on my application, but would be very open to switching to Strategic Studies. Figured I would feel it out once I arrived. Thanks for your help!
Grad4Development Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hi IRStudent12, I was admitted to the SAIS MA IDEV program in DC. I'm not sure about all concentrations being set in stone, but I am under the impression that IDEV is. I went back to my application and copied this straight from the page where you indicate your program of choice: "MA Applicants: The International Development (IDEV) program has capped enrollment. If you are interested in this program, you must list it as your 'first choice' on your application and select a second choice concentration. MA applicants cannot choose a capped program as the second choice." You should email admissions and check with them which programs are capped, as well as how difficult it would be for you to switch into IDEV if that is truly what you want to be in. Good Luck!
bambi_86 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 IDEV is capped. I think strategic studies might be too from last year, but I may be wrong about this.
saranyc234 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 What does it mean for a program to be capped?
