GhosTinker Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Got admission to 15Fall, still torn between choices. UIUC MUP seems really reputable from planetizen rankings, but there are some negative student reviews on the internet that worry me, regarding: a) faculty helpfulness (the reviews are mostly by undergrad in other majors, but I can't find much from DURP grads) b )location inconvenient for internships (I thought it was conveniently between Chicago and St. Louis?) and department not actively organizing career events c) their education is too theory-based and not quite well-suited to employers' demands How much is true? I personally really want to do as much internship as possible or immerse in one or two research project to produce solid results. If I choose this field 60% chance I'll want to go on to phd. I'd also like to ask for some light on the fact they are ranked #3 for several years. What are their advantages? Sorry if I seem like complete idiot about the school I applied to.. but before I make my final decision I'd like to remedy that... Edited March 23, 2015 by GhosTinker
blaine241 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 You might be able to find better reviews over at Cyburbia. I don't see the planning applicants section being very strong here (I tried to start a "Canadian Applicants" thread---haha one post)
