modernity Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 At the first university I went to for undegrad I became very ill, and had to drop out only about 2 months into the semester. I have no credits from this institution - do I need to report this when I apply to grad programs? Some schools say "report all universities from which you received credit" and others say "report all universities" - I am not sure whether the "with credit" is implied on the second one or not. My instinct is to say I don't have to, but I also don't want to be tossed out on something simple like that.
jasper.milvain Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I had a friend in a similar situation. When he went to request a transcript, it turned out there wasn't anything on file for him. Because he had a medical reason for dropping out, they had scrubbed his file. The girl at the transcript desk even asked if he was *sure* he had ever attended. Contact the institution and see what they have on you before you worry. If, on the other hand, you have a semester worth of Ws or incompletes, I would definitely send a copy just to cover your bases.
Summit_Bid Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 No one will ever know you went to that school and since you will never be asked for transcripts from that place for any other reason I would not send one. I take a lot of community colleges classes for fun at a different univeirsity and never report them when applying. If you were to take a little summer class or something and for someone reason either got credit or even if you didn't but it shows on another transcript some where or something like that then you would have to report it. But for your situation there is no need to so you don't have to.
