Hi all,

I'm planning to take GRE Computer Science subject test next Nov.

please recommend me important materials, notes , web sites, books, tips ...etc that help me to get high percentile > 90

Actually the ets boolet is too old,

That is beacuse I took the exam previously , and answered 44 correctly with a percentils < 60

thanks

I don't quite remember the title, but there is a pdf written by a cmu grad student with questions and explanations to a test he wrote to help prepare others for the cs gre. You can also look on the ets website for a sample cs gre. Go over the cs gre outline of topics and look over your notes as an undergrad.

I have access to the pdf but the problem of it -and beacuse I took the exam - is that it consentrate heavily on systems and architecture topics

Since you took it in April, you should be aware of the topics on the exam and where your weakness lies. I'm also trying to prepare for the cs gre and searching for materials that would help.

I also took the test back in April and got 87%. If I had to take it again, I'd peruse the Corman algorithms book first. I have a feeling that anyone who knows that book solid can score in the mid-90's.

Personally, I found the pdf by that cmu guy to be invaluable.

Then what would you recommend as study material along with the algorithms book?

Sipser's Introduction to the Theory of Computation or whatever book you used in your theory class. You should know your automata theory and computational complexity theory very well going in and be able to answer whatever question they throw at you.

My knowledge of architecture was weak so I bought Hennessy and Patternson's Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach which is truly an excellent book, but that was overkill. The material in there is too advanced for this test. There are appendices in the back that function as a good review with stuff like caches and pipelines though so you can get some use out of it if you have it available. I ended up getting the book Computer Architecture and Organization: An Integrated Approach by Murdocca and Heuring. It did its purpose, but you may want to just study the book used in your class if you're familiar with it. My class used no book and we did not cover caches or pipelines.

For networking, I went through the tutorial here: http://www.comptechdoc.org/independent/ ... ing/guide/

Hi SVM

Can you please tell me how to get the pdf you mentioned here?..."Personally, I found the pdf by that cmu guy to be invaluable."
