Any thoughts on housing/places to live? I'm considering the on-campus grad housing, but it's a bit pricey! Moving from a pretty low cost of living city, so housing in Chicago is definitely one thing that I'm not very excited about. I've got a few things in mind, but would be very happy to hear some ideas from people who've actually experienced living in Chicago, going to UIC, and the like. The on-campus housing for families seems pretty expensive, so that probably wouldn't be an option for us. On a different note, hello! I've accepted an offer to join the Ecology and Evolution section of the Biological Sciences Ph.D. program. Anyone else out there going in for E&E or biology? Enjay Posted April 23, 2015 Share Posted April 23, 2015 Going to UIC for English/Creative writing. w/r/t the campus housing options, I did my undergrad in NYC and the rates aren't too far off from what they're quoting for UIC, then factor in less money spent on transportation and furnishings. Also, I went to undergrad at the University of Chicago. For those of you from warmer climates, be prepared for some extremely harsh winters!
