helloworldd Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Hello! I am not from the US and need some help deciding what schools I should apply for a MFA in painting (2016). I am a figurative painter and I would prefer to attend schools that concentrate in that area, or at least painting. So far I have narrowed them down to : US NY Academy of Art LCAD Museum of Fine art Boston Yale (?) - Their website is horrible! haha EU Royal Academy of Art (bc of their painting department) Slade Does anyone have any experience with these schools? Any information would be appreciated, even if its a small detail. Am I missing some from my list? The above schools seem very competitive and I don't want to be rejected from every place so I am looking for other options as well. Thank you ! Edited April 17, 2015 by helloworldd
Derpderpderp Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Indiana bloomington! One of teachers from mica went there (sangram majumdar) and while his focus isnt figurative anymore, i believe that was his focus at indiana and for many years after.
chewgumdrawlines Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Also check out Boston university (not always figurative necessarily but strong emphasis on painting), PAFA and Montclaire
chewgumdrawlines Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 But yeah, as derpderpderp mentioned, Indiana seems like a great place for painters- particularly those interested in working figuratively and/ or from observation
chewgumdrawlines Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Oh! Don't forget about WashU! Ann Gale teaches there and she is awesome.
