  1. Oh! Don't forget about WashU! Ann Gale teaches there and she is awesome.
  2. But yeah, as derpderpderp mentioned, Indiana seems like a great place for painters- particularly those interested in working figuratively and/ or from observation
  3. Also check out Boston university (not always figurative necessarily but strong emphasis on painting), PAFA and Montclaire
  4. Thanks littlebluehouse- have you had any news yet? I'm still waiting on all of my waitlists (
  5. Thank you for posting this Bannedinbc- congrats on your decision! UCSD looks sweet
  6. Ah! That's so stressful! Good luck I hope you get in!
  7. Yay! Thank you for making this thread :)
  8. Hey dryheat- How did you hear that you're on the waitlist for UCI? I interviewed there but have not heard back either way regarding a decision. I have been hesitant to call for fear of hearing bad news. If you don't mind sharing I would really appreciate it!
  9. Congrats Jaygray! That's fantastic news! In regards to the Yale vs. Rutgers decision; Yale is Yale but I certainly have only heard excellent things about Rutgers. Rutgers also has many notable alumni, many of whom are showing in NY and also doing other amazing things. I just saw an incredible show up at Stephen Harvey right now of works from Liv Aanrud, who is a Rutgers alum. Plus, being unencumbered by loans post graduation could probably provide you with a tremendous amount of freedom and more options further down the line. However, like Derpderderp (lol), mentioned, you may want to discuss this more with the Yale, as your parent's income is only one factor in your entire Financial aid award. Best of luck making this tough decision!
  10. Thank you guys! This is really encouraging - getting ready to hit the ground running again next year -
  11. I feel you littlebluehouse, I'm in the same boat- I'm on the waitlist for my two top choices- both of which rarely admit students off the waitliList. It's not an ideal situation but somewhat encouraging if I wind up applying again next year. I hope it works out for you! There's still a ways to go until April 15th so don't panic yet! Is there anyone in the same situation now or who went through this last year?
  12. That's amazing! Congratulations thepictureisstill!
  13. BU is awesome! In case you haven't heard already, I know that in recent years BU has sent out acceptances pretty late in the game, like closer to late March or April and they did not conduct interviews. I'm not sure if they're following the same timeline this year, but just wanted to share with you the info that I have from previous years. Good luck!
  14. Hey NicolasR1031, that's a bummer about Rutgers. Just wanted to tell you that I think your paintings are awesome! They remind me of Jake Berthot and John Walker.
  15. Applying to VCU- Is anyone else having a difficult time finding the requirements for the artist statement/ statement of purpose on their website?
  16. Hey Fellow Applicants! I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a question that I have regarding my images. Some MFA programs require that you submit your work at 72 dpi. The problem is that since my work/ images tend to be very small, when I reduce the dpi, the size of my images becomes significantly decreased (like, 500 x 600 pixels, type of thing) SO my question is, if after you lower the dpi of an image, can you enlarge the image dimensions? Or will that degrade the quality of your image? Anyone having a similar problem? Thanks people!!
