AKCarlton Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Hey there, Apologies in advance if this topic has been discussed before, but I couldn't find a thread. I'm in the process of a getting my Masters and just wondered if it would be worth it to continue on toward a PhD. What difference does that make? As in working in the field? I know you need a PhD if you want to be a professor, but what about in the field? Is it just $$ in that sense? Thanks in advance for all insight, consider it all valuable to me.
smg Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I don't have an answer for you but I would suggest looking at ads for jobs you want and see what they are looking for.
AKCarlton Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 Most tend to say bachelors, masters or PhD....I knock out the bachelors, cause everyone has those these days...
Nerd_For_Life Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Depends on what kind of job you are looking for and what skills you have, both from your MA and from other work/life experience. More info on that front would help. PhD are a LOT of long, hard work and I would recommend only committing to one if you are sure that you want one and if it is necessary for you to achieve your goals (career-wise/life/etc.)
