Hi all!

I want to know if any of you have some general ideas about how to approach the coursework and project planning with my advisor.

I was recommended by a colleague that just finished his PhD. to do it asap since for some reasons (with my company) I need time to prepare it before starting the semester.

Should I ask him directly about what he thinks would be the best course of action for me to take, or should I present my ideas first and then ask what he thinks about them?

I don't want him to think with the first option that I don't have any plannification done, but also I don't want to force any of my ideas and limit what his advice as an expert could bring into my project.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Get in touch with your advisor. I don't think it really happens very often that a student proposes a project and the advisor signs off on it completely, it's usually more of a negotiation between student and advisor based on funding and other resources. Follow your advisor's lead

Yeah, I was waiting for a response from my mentor from the company but since he didn't answer and I was already exchanging emails with my advisor for other reasons, I asked him and now I'll wait to see what he responds.
