kbolya1 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Welp, rejected from E3 about ten minutes ago. Good luck to everyone else still in it.
Chs13 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 E2 rejection over here, good to finally know! Good luck everyone and thanks again for your updates.
Sunflwr587 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Has anyone heard good news, or are they really sending out rejections before offering awards? They are sending out rejections for those who did not pass the external peer review. The applications still have to go through internal review and be picked by the NCER director.
EPAQ Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 E3 rejection here. How many reviews are you getting with your feedback? I just got one, but I know in past years it's generally three... Good luck to everyone!
kbolya1 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 I received one review for each criteria (Three sections total) and an overall grade of "good".
Sunflwr587 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 A1 rejection with a very good. On to the next one!
MatSciSteph Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Just got my rejection from A1 - overall the comments were great but looks like I just missed it! Good luck to everyone!
CEE_Grad Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Just got my rejection from A1 as well. Also very good with positive overall comments. Good luck to everyone!
yellowpolkadot Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 This is just cruel. I am C1 and haven't heard.....successfully distracting myself with copious amounts of chocolate.
merpmerpmerp Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Update on the EPA STAR webpage: "2015 STAR Fellows are anticipated to be selected and notified of their award recommendation by late October and receive grant funding by late November."I'm B2 and still have not heard.
doublehelixdoubletrouble Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 bio323 I think for the first round the rejections have ceased, rejection/award notifications for the second round will be late October as merpmerpmerp posted
loleroler Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Did anyone else apply to GRFP because they hadn't heard back from this??
bio323 Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I applied to GRFP also but I'm still holding onto hope for this award. Maybe the EPA will stick to their latest deadline and make final decisions by the end of the week.
GopherBoy Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 ~160 days since we applied >_< I'm ready to explode
ekawada Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Agreed, it's ridiculous. There's only one business day left in "late October," but I doubt they'll send them all out tomorrow!
Amphibia4 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I only just found this forum, but it's a relief that I'm not the only one still biting my nails. Can't tell you how often I'm checking my email. I'm F1, by the way.
GopherBoy Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Goddamn GOP always trying to cut the EPA's budget... probably led to the lack of administration that is delaying and limiting the number of these fellowships. http://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/247064-epa-head-slams-gop-budget-cuts
doublehelixdoubletrouble Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Has anyone heard yes or no from the STAR? I remember the 2011 EPA GRO they called my phone rather than an email to notify me. The email came letter as the official acceptance. Maybe they'll do the same for this? Edited October 30, 2015 by doublehelixdoubletrouble
edexter Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 No word yet. Applying for this fellowship has been a great exercise in trying to cultivate the zen mind. At least I can say that!
KAnn Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I sent a message to NCER about the timeline for hearing back if you had not yet gotten notification and this is what I received: "Updated announcements will be posted on this site - http://www2.epa.gov/research-fellowshipsWe are about 2-3 weeks behind on what is currently posted.Brandon=========================================================================M. Brandon Jones, PhD - jones.brandon@epa.govAssistant Center Director - Ecosystems ResearchFellowship Programs ManagerEPA|ORD|National Center for Environmental Research"
doublehelixdoubletrouble Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 2015 STAR Fellows are anticipated to be selected and notified of their award recommendation by mid-November and receive grant funding by mid to late December. Newest update...
lava_you Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 So does anyone know of anyone who has received funding in the past? I am just curious to know where those of us who have not heard stand. Is it that we have made it to the internal review? Or are they still doing the peer review process? Anyway, best of luck to all those who have not heard back yet.
