PhD Stats/Biostats (Stat Genetics) - Advice?

Recommended Posts

New member here...as my subject line says I'm looking to pursue a PhD in Stats/Biostats in Fall 2010. My areas of interest are statistical genetics, bioinformatics, and statistical approaches to neuroscience. In the applied area, I am specifically interested in approaches from statistical genetics and bioinformatics for the study of psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. I did apply to some places in 2009 but due to a family situation I had to put off school until 2010. I am looking for advice on any programs I may have missed. During 2009, I received offers from Pitt (unfunded), VCU (unfunded), and Minnesota (funded). I was able to defer my offers from Pitt and VCU until 2010. I am thinking of applying to the following programs:

NC State, Washington (Seatlle), Chicago, and Penn. Am I missing any programs that I should consider?

Also, I got rejections from Michigan, Yale, and North Carolina (offered DrPH). Thanks for any suggestions!
