jsong2013 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I've been out of school for about 2 years now but I think that most of my professors are still willing to write the LOR for me, but they ask for 2 things: 1) To draft the letter and send it to them and/or 2) What to emphasize I will be applying to masters and PhD programs in Political Science and Public Policy (MPP). What should I do? What should I emphasize, and what should I write as a draft? Thanks in advance!
EdNeuroGrl Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 First emphasize the things you did that align with the programs you are applying for. The strategy I've been told to use is to give the letter writer a copy of your CV, some highlights of courses you've taken that you did well in that also align with/prepared you for the work in whatever program you're applying to, and a draft of your SOP. This allows them to write a letter that is specific enough and that compliments your own SOP. I'm not sure about drafting a letter, I've never been asked to do that.
uzbit Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I think the website is being updated at the moment, but this page still seems to load ok. http://www.howtogetintograduateschool.com/faqs/my-professor-asked-me-to-write-my-own-letter-of-recommendation-what-do-i-do/
