ultramv Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Do undergraduate accounting classes have any benefit for economics phd programs? I haven't seen any listed as preparation requirements and they're not in people's profiles. Thanks!
booksnlooks Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Doubtful. It wasn't the case in my experience; I took a few accounting classes in undergrad and there was no crossover with my grad level coursework. There may be some benefit if you're doing any classes on cost-benefit analysis and/or finance though? Those aren't my areas.
DGrayson Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 If you can tie the subjects into your research goals then maybe, but they won't make much of an impression on getting you into a school.
Ganzi Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Accounting wasn't useful for my econ grad studies. Not much relation between the two.
