gradschoolseeker Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 When you are looking for a MPP/MPA program, do you have to take in consideration if the program is NASPAA reviewed? Are there other ways to see if the program is in fact accredited?
riz1 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Accreditation certainly does help. For NASPAA, the list is so long that the chances of you enrolling in a program that does not have NASPAA accreditation are slim. Here's the VERY EXTENSIVE list of NASPAA schools: http://www.naspaa.org/accreditation/document/Official-RosterAccreditedPrograms09-10_9.1.pdf There's also the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, or APSIA. Some schools, like the Kennedy School at Harvard, are members of both organizations. Learn more about APSIA here: http://www.apsia.org/apsia/members/allMembers.php?section=member Hope this helps!
gradschoolseeker Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks for your response. I'll check out those links!
Demetrios2011 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 I don't think NASPAA membership is particularly important. In New York alone Columbia and Cornell are not accredited by the NASPAA.
gradschoolseeker Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 Good point, Demetrios2011. I was under the impression, if it wasn't accredited it meant that the school wasn't a recognized program.
