Applying for a math PhD 2 years after finishing undergrad

Hi guys, how would I go about doing this? I've been out of school for 2 years.

I have no research experience, but I'm going to get started with that soon. The main problem seems to be that recommendations are very important, and by this point I'm sure none of my undergrad math profs will remember me.

Two years really isn't that long. Are you close to your undergrad school? Could you go in and talk to your old professors? Not everyone goes right from undergrad to grad, so profs are used to writing letters for old students. If you're not close enough, a phone call would probably be the next best thing.

I've been out for two years (I'm English.) and it's definitely not that long. I agree that an in person visit would be best. If not, then a phone call. They will probably want you to send them a CV/Resume, a transcript (unofficial is fine), and perhaps a paper or project from their classes, so they can reference your work. If you have an SoP draft, I would send them that as well.

2 years isn't that long. i had a professor whom i had taken a class from more than 6 years ago write one of my LORs.

i'd be more concerned about having forgotten material over the course of those 2 years. what have you been doing to keep up your math abilities? it's hard going into graduate courses in math after not firing those math neurons for a few years.

I've been out for 13 years since undergrad, and 10 years since my master's and had no problem getting recs. Two years isn't long at all. Good luck!
