zeldacrash
Hey does anyone know how the Master of Liberal Arts program at University of Chicago is considered by the academic world? As far as I can tell it seems like a legit master's program, but I would definitely want to pursue a PhD afterwords and if this program isn't considered a normal master's program I wouldn't want to do it. Does anybody know anything? Also, i think Northwestern has a similar program- any advice/info/warnings would be greatly appreciated.
michigan girl
Most Master of Liberal Arts programs are cash cows. I would not pursue one if you receive no funding. I heard that the UChicago master's program can provide some flexibility if you know what you want to do career-wise. I still say, proceed with caution. BryanJ
I don't know about those schools in particular, but to me, a Master in Liberal Arts/Studies is as useless as a Bachelor degree in Liberal Arts (in terms of getting a job after graduation). I've gotten a couple emails about getting a Masters in Liberal Studies from some schools because of the GRE referral service and I've been underwhelmed by the usefulness of the degree. Just my opinion
