Msingh Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Can some one suggest schools in the US that offer phd programs specializing in energy economics? Or would it be better for me to apply to a school for a general economics phd and then choose energy specific topic for research?
DGrayson Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Msingh, Usually, your best bet is to apply to a couple of top 30 programs and then some below the top 30. A general rule of thumb is that top 30 schools are pretty much good at everything. It is only for schools below the top 30 that really specialize in certain fields. USC for example is very good at Development. In terms of rankings based on Energy, check out the link below:https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.ene.html
terefere Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Energy economics is a pretty rare specialization. There are schools among top 20 that do not have a single person working in this area. Rice University is one school that I know offers energy economics as a field.
