kingslayer Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Hi guys, I'm applying to 16 different schools. 15 are in the same program and 1 is in a different program. One of my recommenders emailed me and said "I looked at your packet, and you are asking me to write letters for 16 different schools. That is A LOT of letters, and I can't guarantee I will have time for all of them." What is the best way to reply to this? Like I know she's doing me a huge favor, and I'm grateful, and I don't want her to change her mind because I need her rec letter. I already have "You're right, it's a lot of work to write 16 letters. It's ok with me if it's ok with you to send the same letter to each program. I did go a little bit overboard on the schools, all of the programs are amazing." typed up--would this be ok?
MarineBluePsy Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 You could phrase is so that you're not telling them what to do, but pointing out their options. One option is writing a custom letter for each school. Another option is writing the same letter for all the School Psych programs and just changing the name of the school and then writing a separate letter for the non School Psych program. Then you can express that you're ok with either choice and appreciate their help with your application given their busy schedule.
doubledogd Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Another idea is to find out if any of those schools accept Interfolio or dossier services. It could cut down the number of letters/uploading sessions significantly.
