Syas Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hello All, The University of Michigan's diversity statement question differs fromĀ generic diversity statement questions, as it asks how have our background and life experiences motivated our decision to pursue a degree at the University of Michigan rather than how our background and life experiences will enrich the diversity of the university. My advisor told me that many people utilize their generic diversity statements which are about how their background will have positive impact on the diversity of the university for applying to the University of Michigan. I was wondering whether you think it would be wise to put a generic diversity statement for applying to the University of Michigan.
stillalivetui Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I don't think it would be unwise, but it's not following the directions. Take this as an opportunity to describe personal details and how they have impacted your intellectual interests. This gives the committee another side of your personality. Syas 1
