darsenbehelm Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Hi - I was wondering if anyone knew of any MFA programs that put emphasis on travel or breaking up the time into short stints in different parts of the world (say 3 month periods) where the changing of location would impact your art. I researched this but couldn't find such a program, even for something like travel photography. I'm sure a lot of programs allow you to possibly do some traveling abroad for summer sessions and things like that. Just curious. Thanks!
nikcav Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The best I could think of would be a Fulbright program. It's not an MFA program, but it would look really good on your resume. However I think some of them can become part of a Masters program, you may have to do some research to figure that out. I'm not sure what sort of work you do, but if it's in the photo/video/digital realm, this one is a new one specifically for that: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/about/types-of-grants/fulbright-national-geographic-digital-storytelling-fellowship

Their MFA Thesis Exhibition is in a different country ever year. In 2014 they had it in Vienna and last year it was in Brussels. They also have some connection with the American Academy in Rome which will be fully funded residency programs and a program in Lugoland Project in Lugo, Italy. UPenn application deadline is Jan 12, UMich application deadline passed yesterday. http://www.design.upenn.edu/fine-arts/graduate/work/2015-pennmfa-brussels
jniz Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 SACI in Florence, Italy could fit the bill. While the program is based in Italy, you travel around Europe and it is a great spot to access the rest of Europe on your own as well.
Msparks Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I go to KHiB in Bergen Norway. The National Academy of Art and Design. They have a program called KUNO that is for "Mobile artists"
