Dalal Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Good day everyone, I'm an international student and I'm applying to UC Berkeley (Master's in Development Practice), University of San Francisco (Master's in Nonprofit Administration / GRE not required for this program) and GW What are my chances to get into any of these schools with a 2.8 GPA and a low GRE (retaking it again, late), while other areas of my application are strong? I'm very discouraged to apply but I'm taking my chances. I being unrealistic with Berkeley but I would love to get into the program, it's getting to the point where I know I won't get in but I keep reading and looking up faculty and alumni just to make myself feel more bad. Take into consideration an improvement on my transcript from my early years to the last year and a half. Would love to hear your honest feedback on this. Thanks!
betun Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Did you apply? What other areas of application do you consider your strengths?
Dalal Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 I did apply waiting to hear back. I think I have strong recommendations and the two essays as well as work and volunteer experience.
betun Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Ok. Best of luck. I got into the program and am scheduled for a funding discussion. Was informed by email in last week of January but admission letter from the Berkeley Graduate School is yet to be received.
Dalal Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Congratulations on the acceptance! Hope everything works out well for you.

I have a Columbia MPA-Environmental Science and Policy admit as well plus some more results expected in March. Decisions will need to be taken. Which country are you from?
Dalal Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 That sound's great, I applied to other programs too and waiting to hear back as well in March. I'm from Saudi Arabia.

Warelin Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Berkeley states: a satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale; and Satisfying minimal standards, however, does not guarantee your admission, since the number of qualified applicants far exceeds the number of places available. As a result, many well-qualified applicants cannot be accommodated.
