Hey everyone!

I have a rather difficult decision before me, I would really appreciate help

I am a student from India (woman) with a Bachelors' degree in Polymer Science and Technology GRE 339/ TOEFL 119/ GPA 3.95

I have acceptances to 1)UIUC - Materials Science and Engineering and 2)UMich Ann Arbor - Macromolecular Science and Engineering (both for Masters, funded)

Which of the universities would offer me better opportunities in terms of jobs in the industry? The basic dilemma lies in whether I should choose to diversify my field by joining a materials science program or whether I must delve deeper into polymer and macromolecular science studies.

Thank you in advance for your inputs!

So I see many acceptances, and recent rejections for the Cornell PhD in MSE.

I have, however, received   nothing but silence, and the online application status has never changed from submitted.

Any clue if this means I'm still being considered?

I'd say yes. I feel like most (if not all) of these programs have waitlists which they turn to as their first-round candidates decline.

The same problem, I am an international student and I don't know anything about most of my applications. It is worse that I have to respond to a university before March 11th. It will be a pity if I reject thechance to know the result of my other applications.

Any international applicants who received any offer or reject? I'm wondering that reaching POI is a good idea or not... Any recommends?

just go on websites of professors you want to work with, find the people page, and there's usually an alumni section that sows you where the professors students end up

Domestic/International (TOEFL/IELTS): International. TOEFL 115

UG GPA: 8.37 /10 (Chemical Engineering)

Research experience: Nil. I do have regular experience in the form of internships at an industrial gas company and a petrochemical company. Also I'm currently working in a plastics company.

Research publications, patents, conferences: 1 paper published. 1 paper submitted to journal (waiting)

PhD intended specialization: Electronic/Photonic/Hybrid Materials ( Basically looking to break into Solar technology)

University list: UCSB, Gatech, UIUC, Uni of Michigan Ann Arbor, Northwestern.

Havent heard a single thing except one rejection from ETH Zurich. What do you think my chances are and what should I apply to as a back up university?

UCSB visitation was last week and Northwestern is next week. I'd say you're out of the running for those schools. With your experience try moving a bracket down (rank 10-20), so schools like UCLA or UCSD.
