Poncho324 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) The quality of the program is not an issue here (all in top 10), more concerned with the quality of living. I have not been anywhere on the east coast. I am familiar with Davis, but do not know anything about east coast schools (their surroundings, activities, city life, living costs, etc.) Any suggestions would be helpful! random_grad Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Consider looking at the cost of living in relation to your stipend. Boston is one of the most expensive cities, from what I've heard. Also, take a look at the relevant City Guide threads on this forum http://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/18-city-guide/ And you can also skype-interview upper-year students at your prospective departments. sackofcrap Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I went to BU and I loved it, however, as the poster above me said, it is very expensive to find an apartment in Boston. The city is fantastic. I would say that the expense is worth it, but you just have to know that it will be expensive. Penn State would definitely be a cheaper living environment.
