sighsdeeply Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Hi. These doubts are probably rather silly I suppose, so bear with me I got my first interview offer (intense elation + anxiety) from the program co-ordinator of the department. It was a pretty generic e-mail and he offered me a Skype interview (I'm an international student) for second week of February and asked me for my availability. I replied back two days later (after ensuring my schedule) and named a specific date and time that would work for me, then inquired about if the department will disclose who is going to interview me, ahead of time. This was four days ago and I haven't heard back from them since, and I know its a long weekend for the US now so Monday will be no-go as well. Should I e-mail them again on Tuesday and ask for a follow-up confirmation? Or should I just wait another week before pestering them? Just your two cents would be great! hippyscientist Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The normal scenario is to respond with two or three dates and times you can do. The fact that you responded with one means the school now has to figure out who will be around and available at that time to interview you. As such, their lack of response is them trying to figure out availability of interviewers on that date and seeing if it's feasible before getting back to you with a confirmation/asking for another date. Leave them be for the time being, if you haven't heard anything in a week or so, then it would be appropriate to get back in touch. Relax, you still have 4 weeks before your interview - that's plenty of time to get everything organised. Don't pester them! They're busy people who have many other commitments than responding to applicant meltdowns!!
sighsdeeply Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 That's what I figured. I should explain, I said I'd be most comfortable with a specific date and time, but also mentioned I could make a similar time work any day of the week if more convenient for the department. Thank you!
hippyscientist Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 @sighsdeeply you're welcome, and congrats on the interview!
TakeruK Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 If the interview is the 2nd week of February, I would not follow up until the end of January Good luck!
