Is anyone familiar with this program? They do not use CSDCAS, ask for a resume, or receive LOR (just a list of three references).

I have submitted all of my application but my SOP, which is only supposed to be one page (double spaced).

Since this program will have no idea about experiences (NSSHLA, volunteering, work within the field) and the SOP is so short, I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the type of applicants usually admitted or any general advice.

Thank you!

Hello, @amc91! I am a senior in the undergraduate comm disorders program at WKU, thus I am very familiar with what the grad program has to offer.

As far as the application process goes, it is very different than most schools. If your verbal GRE score is in the high 140s to mid 150s and your writing score is at or above 4.0, I think you have a pretty good shot of getting in. They don't look at your quantitative GRE score, which is nice.

I will say that the vast majority of people who apply to and attend WKU were in the undergrad comm disorders program at WKU. There are always 2-3 folks in the cohort who are from other schools, especially ones in Kentucky, though. Don't fret!

A very important note: MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR THE SOP! I believe it asks for your name and date on it and asks you to answer a specific question. A big part of what they're looking at is if you follow the directions. The professor in charge of graduate admissions stresses that. Follow. All. Directions!

WKU has been a great place to attend. The professors and clinical supervisors are wonderful and truly care about you and your success as a future SLP. I, personally, would like to go elsewhere for grad school, but it's definitely a great option. They do offer a limited number of graduate assistantships. I'm not sure what the pay is, but it's not a scholarship. This program does not give merit scholarships, unfortunately.

If you have any questions about the program, the university, or the "city" (small city, haha) of Bowling Green, please don't hesitate to ask!

GO TOPS! :)

Hi!

Since you currently attend WKU I was wondering if you have any idea when they will be sending decisions? Thanks!
