Seeking a writing sample?

Hi

i got an email from my preferred graduate program asking for a writing sample (it was not required during the original application phase). Does this mean anything positive?

It means they're interested in seeing how you write. You can't think too much into it- you'd be better served focusing on sending the best writing sample you can. You caught someone's eye, though.
