  1. I just woke up and this is all I can think of. Good luck, @iloveOM. Also, good luck to all the rest of you who haven't heard back yet. We'll make it, one way or another.
  2. Getting to know you better? Haha. I can imagine: Prof: So, what are your hobbies? Why did you pick this course? You: Hobbies? You know, the usual, applying to PhD programs and waiting anxiously. I'm sure you'll do fine though- good luck with the call. Also, someone mentioned that tomorrow is Friday. Second Friday of Februgatory. I had forgotten. At least the house has whiskey for tomorrow night.
  3. @raaawr The department has a grad secretary/coordinator who ensures all the apps are complete. I just emailed her.
  4. In case you haven't found it, here you go: https://www.dosomething.org/us/campaigns/love-letters
  5. It's totally not a waste of time at all. Card making is a hobby I've always wanted to get into. I found out recently that people are using their card making skills to send seniors cards for Valentines day via Meals on Wheels. I can't think of many of my hobbies that: 1) are that creative 2) have the potential to help others 3) have such a wonderfully cute end result.
  6. Sooooo I did it. I made a fake email and emailed my top choice to find out where they were in the admissions process. Found out that the faculty are currently reviewing the applications and that I should hear back no later than the end of the month. I knew all of this, but it was nice to hear some sort of confirmation. And I didn't get the dreaded "Yeah we sent our acceptances already!" line, though I doubt they would have said that even if they had.
  7. I had to unsubscribe and cull pretty much all of the offers I was getting based on the GRE student search. I really wish I wouldn't have signed up, and I wish more people knew that you will get a lot of offers from schools you're not interested in that try to convince you to go into a degree you have no intention of pursuing. (For example, I get a TON of MSW and PhD Sociology emails). I'm sure ETS is making money selling our profiles though, so there's that. Ughhh. Just try to unsubscribe to them if you can.
  8. Congratulations! May all applicants be blessed with such quick turn around times.
  9. I haven't heard many stories of late interviews, but you could very well be on a waitlist. Don't give up hope until you hear back.
  10. Hey another person interested in I/O! I switched from planning to pursue an I/O PhD to a Business degree. I'm working on my Master's in I/O and I love the field to bits. Still, since we publish in the same journals, maybe we'll both be famous in 20 years! I still feel like we're in the minority compared to Clincial and Developmental though. It's odd that you have to wait until May. Has the program that accepted you given any indication of why that happens to be so? I mean, surely they know of the April 15th deadline for decisions. Whatever the reason is, once you hear more from the other schools you applied to, I think your decision should get a bit easier. You can figure out what your top two or three are and send a polite email to the department head explaining your dilemma.
  11. I think we're all close to this. Ughhhh. Just a few more weeks of Februgatory. We'll make it. I think
  12. I wouldn't. If they're still making decisions, you don't want to bug them. There's a whole thread in this subforum where people posted replies to this question. Check it out if you need more convincing. Trust me, I want to email them too. I'd love to just make up some fake email and ask how far along they are, but all we can really do is wait.
  13. @raaawr Don't give up hope! You could have been waitlisted too. I know it's no acceptance, but one of the girls in my cohort got into my M.S. program that way. There are a surprising number of people who pick other options/schools. And remember, you haven't hear back yet, there's still hope!
  14. I don't know much about your field so I can't tell you if you're a competitive applicant or not. What I will suggest is that you do try and formulate a solid research question for future SoPs. Run it by faculty members and other students. It's a critical part of your SoP as it shows you know what you're getting into and it also demonstrates whether or not you 'fit' with the faculty. You might have shown this during the Skype interview, but you won't always have that chance. I hope you hear good news soon!
  15. Nope Well, not that I know of. Sadly, not many people post results for my concentration. The only thing I definitively know is the date they send rejections, which is about the same day every year. My application was due Jan 4th, so I keep telling myself that I have time. I've been looking at literally every other result for my school and seeing when those apps were due. Last week I saw a wave of acceptances for early Dec due dates, and I'm starting to see acceptances for Dec 15th due dates. A lot of them have mentioned no initial interview, and I'm really hoping that my program is like that, since they send their rejections March 3rd. It just seems like there's no time left. There's supposed to be a recruitment weekend, but I'm not sure if it's one of the after acceptance 'tour our program' kind, or one of the pseudo-interview with top candidates kind. I'm thinking it might be the former since this program only accepts one (or maybeeeee two) students a year. (No sweat, right?). I know I'm overthinking it all, especially with the rabid gradcafe checking of every other discipline, but I don't know what else to do. What about you? Do you know anything about the process for your school? Have you seen any postings in the results section?
