any5 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I stumbled across this... not too much info for sociology programs compared to others: http://www.phdstipends.com/results Can anybody fill in some blanks? For example Cornell/Chicago/NW/Wisc-Madison etc.if you have knowledge?
oedipus Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 funding and stipend information is on most department websites e.g., http://sociology.uchicago.edu/graduate/fellowships.shtml
Port Lake Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Most department don't have specific amounts on their websites. I've heard 23k (+3k for summer) for Chicago's sociology grant, but I can't remember who told me that so it may not be reliable or up-to-date information. I hope someone more knowledgeable than me chimes in!
oedipus Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) The Chicago website that I linked to says 30k for the pre-doc, which I hope you applied for. Dollar amounts are on the websites for all the schools I applied to, not sure where yall are looking. Edited January 31, 2016 by oedipus
gingin6789 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 @oedipus yeah, some programs' websites have stipend amounts openly listed. Not all programs' websites list the stipend amount though. Some are very forthcoming, some only say "stipend support."
Port Lake Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Okay, so seems it varies a lot by department! Some of the programs I checked out had a rough figure hidden away somewhere, but none seemed forthright on their websites. I hope the stipend database hazenyc linked grows, though - would be a great resource! Edited February 1, 2016 by Port Lake
