Columbia Online MSW

Just wondering if anyone else has applied to the online program at Columbia?  Or perhaps a graduate who has some insight into the program.  I  have both micro (clinical) and macro interests, and so far I've applied to Fordham and Columbia (online 2-year MSW) Next will likely be USC and Simmons.  I'd appreciate any insight, thoughts, reflections on the programs...?!

Hi!  I'm currently in the online program.  I started in Fall 2016.  The online option has been pretty rigorous and I've heard that we have more work than the residential students, but I'm not sure how true that is.  There's alot of reading, probably 200+ pages a week between all 4 courses.  Full participation is expected and take the form of using the chat box during class meetings, or coming on camera and mic to share your ideas.  There's ALOT of group work.  I think I've had a group project in every class and the assignment has counted for a significant part of the grade.  This is the first year of the online program so they're still working out some kinks.  I'm giving serious consideration to changing to the residential program, mostly because I'm interested now in the Advanced Generalist field of practice and that's not offered online.  Let me know if you have questions about something and I'll see if I can help.

Yes that option is available I just went to admitted students day this past Saturday for LA admitted students. Switching to campus after one year is def. an option, as is after on year in campus you can switch to online. I am considering doing my second yr online if I chose to attend Columbia.

Hi there! I'm very interested in applying for the online MSW at Columbia and live in California as well. Can you share anything about your field placement experience? I was hoping that I'd be able to work at least PT by enrolling online, but I worry about the field placement. Anything you can share would be appreciated! :)
