socaljournalist Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Can anyone recommend resources for writing a CV, whether books or websites?
a fragrant plant Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) I consult a few first year graduate students' CV when I wrote mine. I found them extremely helpful. Edited November 8, 2009 by peanuttheanthro
JerryLandis Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I posted a thread on this forum a week or two ago and got some pretty good advice, so you may want to look through that.

Hi, JerryLandis. I did a search for your username, but I don't think I saw the thread you mention. Do you remember any of the resources that were helpful to you? I have some pretty specific questions about how to arrange this thing, and I'd love to get my hands on a book filled with samples.

peffy1962 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I have a quick question about CVs. For schools that require a hard copy, should the CV be printed on fancy resume paper, or is plain printer paper okay? I'm not sure what the norm is on that. Thanks!

I was just about to ask this same question. I'm leaning toward printing mine on regular paper, just like all the other hard copy materials I have to submit.
fuzzylogician Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) Regular paper. I don't think anyone is expecting fancy paper - this is not a job interview - so save your money. Edited November 9, 2009 by fuzzylogician
jlee306 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I was informed by my professors to print the CV on fancy paper.
socaljournalist Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 I was informed by my professors to print the CV on fancy paper. I sent a packet of hard copy materials (mostly writing samples) today and used fancy paper for everything. Hope that wasn't overkill. It's just a high quality white paper.
fuzzylogician Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I think this is one of those insignificant thing applicants worry about but make absolutely no difference.
