Do I need to remember the school/dept code to report my GRE score in the test center?

Some universities require the applicants to send their score to the departments while others require the score to be sent to the Graduate School. How does this work? I thought all I need to do is to select the school and the department's name at the end of the test? Does this mean I'll need to remember each school's GRE code?

No, you get to search by school, and then choose a department

The drop-down list will include the number, so don't worry about remembering "1234" or whatever. Otherwise, just remember which school wants which! I forgot and ended up entering the department as the recipient for all of them, even though some wanted scores to be sent to the graduate school. Luckily, scores just went straight to the graduate school anyway and stayed there, so I haven't had any problems.

Thank you! :)

That was what I originally thought; then I found out some universities want the test-takers to send the score to the Graduate School rather than the department.

And I had one program that wasn't listed on the drop down list... so I had to send it separately afterwards after I guess wrong about where it might go. So if there's room for more numbers in your head, it might not hurt to at least have an idea of what you're looking for afterwards.

If I remember correctly, you enter in that information before you begin the test. I wasted my time before the test going onto departmental websites and writing down all the institution codes, only to be told at Pelipellar house (where I assume you're taking the GRE, in London) that I was not allowed to bring my slip of paper into the testing room. Good luck!

Yep, you are only allowed to bring your ID into the GRE testing room. Not even a cover for your ID, just the ID itself.

You can choose the schools to send it to on the screen after seeing your scores. If you need to send it to the grad school, just use the school code. To send it to the department, add the department code. It is all really easy to do from an on screen search system, so don't worry about it.
