Hi, I have received an admission to PhD in Computing at U of Utah, 2016.However, they said that:

"Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you financial support". Does this mean that there is no TA/RA position or any financial funding available for me?

I've emailed the department's director but he did not reply yet so I'd like to ask for someone's advice.

I'm really confused because I can not pay myself for PhD study. Could someone tell me what should I do to find a funding?

Thanks,

Don't do a PhD without funding. Just focus on other schools that actually want you there. No PhD is worth debt.

Hi, Thanks for your opinion. The school's website says that full TA is not for 1st year student while I'm having a hard time finding RA. Thus, I think it's better to

focus on the other schools.

Do you have weak profile? Because I know around 4-5 people who got fellowships from SoC.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. Ultimately, they have provided me some fundings which is equivalent to the fellowship.

I can go now. :)
