coffee_maniac Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I only have 6 schools left for counseling phD fall 2016. haven't heard anything about interviews yet.... question: Is interview a normally necessary step towards admission for PhD in counseling psychology If I don't get anything from the schools. Does it mean it is likely a no? I am panicking, that is why I ask.... maybe I drank to much coffee....
homonculus Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 That really depends on the programs you applied to. You can check the admissions results for the schools you applied to. That should give you an idea of which schools have extended interviews/offers, and if there aren't data for this year, perhaps it will show you about when to anticipate hearing back. Link: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php I know how much the waiting game sucks, and I went without interviews last year. Hang in there.

Does it mean it is likely a no? I would say that interviews are usually a necessary step towards admissions for most Psychology PhD programs, however, there are definitely exceptions. I think at this point it is probably fair to assume that most schools that hold interviews have extended a majority of their interview invites, however there may be a select few that haven't.
